ABOUT MPA
The Methacrylate Producers Association, Inc. (MPA) was formed in 1987 to address issues facing the basic methacrylates. MPA represents manufacturers and importers of methacrylic acid and its esters.
Since its formation, MPA has focused on regulatory, technical and product stewardship issues facing methacrylic acid, n-butyl methacrylate, ethyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate and 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate. MPA has completed a significant voluntary testing program with these compounds and several publications.
Mission Statement
- MPA will anticipate key safety, health and environment regulatory activities and trends involving the basic methacrylic monomers (methacrylic acid and the alkyl esters: specifically, methyl methacrylate, ethyl methacrylate, iso-butyl methacrylate, n-butyl methacrylate and ethylhexyl methacrylate) and provide data, as necessary, to ensure appropriate actions.
- MPA's primary focus will be on U.S.-based regulatory and product stewardship/product safety issues. MPA will track global regulatory trends and developments and will work with regional groups such as the CEFIC Methacrylates Sector Group.
- MPA will identify, develop and apply the technical and regulatory information and tools necessary to understand potential health and environmental effects of the basic methacrylic monomers, and communicate these as appropriate.
- MPA will generate high quality safety, health and environmental data on the basic methacrylic monomers for use by our companies, the scientific community, customers, and key regulatory agencies and our stakeholders worldwide. High quality data is essential to support responsible advocacy programs.
- MPA's membership is limited to producers of the basic methacrylic monomers.
